Bridgman
Founded in 1977, Bridgman has over 40 years of experience in the furniture industry. Bridgman is a well-established British furniture company known for Renowned for its craftsmanship, durability, and design.
As the sole graphic designer I am responsible for curating photoshoots and creating visually appealing editorial print ads that highlight our unique products. I develop detailed floorplans and technical drawings to support production and sales, and manage our social media presence by producing both video and static content to engage and attract our audience.
Brochure design
One of my first tasks as a designer for Bridgman was to launch a short editorial lookbook for the new Continental range of furniture. I curated and designed the lookbook to showcase the elegance and craftsmanship of the collection, highlighting each piece's unique features and creating a visually captivating presentation to attract and engage potential customers.
Photography
I was the primary photographer for a new product launch, which we shot on the beautiful grounds of Brocket Hall golf course. I was responsible for capturing the elegance and sophistication of our furniture in this picturesque setting, ensuring the photos highlighted the quality and appeal of the new collection
Editorial advertisements
I create weekly print advertisements with quick turnarounds for notable publications like Country Living and Good Housekeeping. My process involves designing visually appealing and on-brand ads that effectively communicate our products' quality and style, ensuring they meet the strict deadlines and high standards of these esteemed magazines.
Commercial floorplan design
I create floorplans for both commercial and retail customers by first scanning the area to understand the space's measurements. Using these measurements, I develop scaled versions of the floorplans. I have a collection of our products, with each pixel equating to 1 cm, which I use to populate the floorplans and design the optimal layout for the client.
Alongside the floorplan, I provide accompanying moodboards that showcase fabrics, textures, colors, and photography of the proposed products to give a comprehensive visual representation of the final design
Spec drawings
I also create spec drawings of our products. As new products arrive, I photograph them from the same angle to ensure consistency. Then, using the pen tool, I carefully recreate the product as an illustration. These detailed drawings are used for catalogues and guides, providing clear and precise visual representations of each item for our customers.
Rebrand idea
When I first joined the company, I felt that their branding needed a rework. While the existing logo was perfectly functional, it didn't convey the heritage or high-end appeal that we aspire to. I wanted to steer the branding in a direction that exudes a sense of esteem and British tradition. My idea was to refine the typography and color palette to emphasise our identity as a luxury brand.
However, I recognize that rebranding an entire furniture company is a significant challenge, especially since the current logo is already in use across multiple forms. This idea is still in its early stages, and careful planning and execution would be required to successfully implement such a change.
